Stephen Priestley

Born 21st. April 1966 in Hong Kong, where I started music lessons aged five. Piano has been my abiding passion all my life. I have performed in a variety of settings in Germany, USA and England; latterly in the Grand Hotel, Folkestone, Kent, as the resident pianist, and currently as the resident pianist for the Clifton Hotel, Folkestone, Kent. I have played at concerts and also more informal recitals, and also accompanied singers, who were performing classical tenor and baritone arias, and also lighter contemporary and modern music.

For me, I can gain no greater feeling of fulfillment and exhilaration than when I am performing in front of an audience, whether this be in a formal recital setting, or as part of a wedding, anniversary, or other function. As well as playing an extensive repertoire of piano music, I also enjoy singing and accompanying myself during this process — again, I sing classical pieces, as well as contemporary and popular music.

Whilst I was trained as a classical pianist, and play an extensive repertoire from a diverse range of composers, such as Scarlatti, Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert and Liszt, amongst others, I also play a plethora of contemporary/modern music, including Italian and Spanish ballads, film music, ragtime, and perform “pop” music, such as Elton John and Neil Diamond.

I play with real passion and aim to communicate deeply felt emotions through the music, creating a special atmosphere, whenever I perform infront of others, whether this be in a small intimate setting, or infront of large numbers.

As mentioned above, I will play for all kinds of occasions: please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your requirements. I look forward to playing for you in the near future.

=)
